baking - hot chocolate

i love hot chocolate. who doesn't? this recipe is loaded with all the goods that make up a truly authentic and delicious cup of hot chocolate.  it's rich, creamy, and tastes quite literally like it's name. 

The Ultimate Hot Chocolate Recipe 
{From Marshmallow Madness! by Shauna Sever}
*Serves two

1 and 3/4 cups whole milk
1/4 cup half-and-half
1/4 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
2 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped (use good quality, 60% to 70% cacao)
2 tablespoons dark unsweetened cocoa powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Combine all of the ingredients except the vanilla in a medium saucepan and heat just until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is just hot to the touch. Transfer the mixture to a blended and blend on high for 60 seconds. Pour back into the saucepan and stir in the vanilla. Heat on medium high until hot but not boiling. Serve immediately. 

*The blender makes the mixture nice and frothy.
